Description
The DLL driver software, often referred to as loaders, are associated with the publishing of plans and documents within ProjectDox. These files are located in the installation directory of the Job Processor and may require updating for a variety of reasons including but not limited to:
- New version of AutoCad, PDF, etc. being released
- Enhancement to loader to incorporate resolve issues
The 5 main dll files are:
- PDF2DL.dll
- DWGDL.dll
- DGN2DL.Dll
- DWF2DL.dll
- EMF2DL.dll
Solution
1. Access your Job Processor server(s) and locate the installation directory “Job Processor”. This installation directory is typically located on a drive other than the C:\
a. If you have multiple job processors per environment update one server at a time to avoid disruption to the user base.
2. Download the software from the links provided from Avolve to the Job Processor Server.
3. Perform a right-click on the downloaded ZIP file to view the properties of the file/folder to ensure that the file(s) are not being blocked. If it displays as “Blocked” click the “Unblock” button and this will unblock all file of the zip.
4. Extract the contents of the .ZIP file once it is confirmed that the file is not blocked.
5. On the Job Processor Server navigate to Services and stop the “ProjectDox Job Processor” service.
6. In the “Job Processor” Installation directory located the DLL file and/or folder and rename the file. The renaming of the file will allow you to roll back to the previous version should there be a need to do so.
a. Example: Pdf2DL.DLL to Pdf2DL.DLL2-3-2014
7. Once the file is renamed copy the newly downloaded file(s)/folders to the directory.
8. Repeat this task for all DLL updates.
9. Restart the “ProjectDox Job Processor Service.”
10. Once the Job Processor(s) are updated with the new DLL files/folders the files experiencing issues will need to be run back thru the job processor to leverage the updated software installed. It is recommended to use the SystemConfig.aspx page for the re-publish of the file so that the original person’s name that uploaded the file is retained for display purposes in ProjectDox.
a. Navigate to https://yourprojectdoxurl.com/ProjectDox/Admin/SystemConfig.aspx.
- If not logged into ProjectDox already as a System Administrator you will be prompted to add your SA account email address and your password.
b. Locate the Republish Files feature.
c. Select your project from the Project ID list (list of project names).
d. Click the “Go” button to display the folder and file list for the project.
e. Locate the folder and select the files to republish.
f. Click the “Republish Selected” button.
11. Once tested and confirmed no extraneous issues present the renamed DLL’s from step #6 can be deleted.
